Community skills empowerment is the greatest weapon Zambia can ever use to change its economic pendulum. We need to invest more in mind-set change. Having a visionary leadership, committed and dedicated to duty with entrepreneurial mind-set and undertakings, impossibilities are made possible. Where such is the case, fuel is always the support from all well-meaning stakeholders.
I listened keenly today's speech of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema during the official opening of Parliament on 10th September, 2021.
At this critical moment, certain phrases are decisive to the potential listeners and the would be implementers. It is very encouraging that they came out vividly. These are key in putting Zambia on the wheels. These key words are only repeated to stress emphasis and to suggest no alternatives.
The key repetitive words in the speech included;
- Visionary: we need visionary leaders across Zambia.
- Economic development: that’s the main focus of the current leadership, anything else is secondary.
- Employment: making everyone functional in and to society and Zambia at large.
- Sustainability: there is always a future to secure (green economy).
- Inclusiveness: no one should be left behind (One Zambia One Nation).
- Rule of law: all persons, institutions and entities will be made accountable to laws that exist (past, present, future).
- Honest: free of deceit; truthful and sincere to Zambia.
- Prudence: skill and good judgment in the use of resources.
- Competence: possessing sets of specific skills, judgment, strength and abilities required to do the job (criteria for job placement).
- Decentralisation: bringing the services and decision making closer to the people.
- Entrepreneurship: the steering of any economic development; it must be the centre of every economic story.
You can add ...
To Zambia I can simply say 'on your marks, get set, ...'
Zambia is on the wheels.
